Water Babies

We spent Thursday-Sunday at my parent's house. Since they have a pool, we were able to get Ava & Drew in just about every day--which they love. It's more difficult to take them to the pool here because I can't handle them alone at a public pool & it's always TOO crowded on the weekends. So, we love going to Noni & Dandy's & getting in the pool whenever we want. Ava especially loved it...there were many fits thrown when she had to get out. And one time, my mom asked her if she wanted to go swing, but Ava apparently heard 'swim' & was quite upset when they headed to the front porch. She is also fearless, so mommy, Dandy & daddy all had to be on their toes with her around! Here are a few pics from Saturday:

We have also found that there is a sprinkler park right around the corner from our house. It opens at 9:00 & is free! :) I took them there for the 1st time last week(it is completely fenced in, so they can't run away from me/towards to the big pool) & they loved it. Since we had to come back a day early from our 'vacation', we got daddy to come play in the water with us today. Since he was there, I was able to take a few pics, too. It is open until the end of September & we will definitely be taking advantage of it till then!

Drew's 1st Haircut

On Sunday, we got Drew's hair cut for the 1st time. We went to a place called Cool Cuts 4 Kids--the lady who cut his hair was GREAT!! He was quite wiggly & really did not like having her mess w/ his head, but it really looks good. The whole experience wasn't nearly as bad as we expected. There were a few tears, but no screaming or temper tantrums!

Ant Encounter

Yesterday morning started out really good! After a good night's sleep, both kids were happy & I don't think there was a single temper tantrum or whining spell. About 9:00 we headed outside-like we do most mornings-to run off some energy in the backyard. We'd been out for about 20 minutes when Ava started shrieking. Now, I didn't immediately suspect anything was wrong as she tends to shriek often & for fun. But, I did start walking towards her to be sure--she had wandered down to one end of the yard. When I(followed by Drew) got closer, I realized she was swatting at her legs--so I moved a little faster. She had stopped to check out a tree--and stood in an ant mound. Her poor legs were covered. So, I picked her up to run her to the water faucet. Got her all cleaned off & inside. Poor Drew was quite confused through all this, but obeyed me SO well!! By the time we were inside, she was fine--I think I was more upset in the long run than she was. And, really, it turned out not to be quite as bad as I'd been afraid it would be. Here's a pic of her legs today--a little over 24 hrs later. They don't seem to be itching her too much--though she doesn't seem to like them on her legs!

On another note, I managed to fall while running her to the faucet & landed square on my belly. So, we also got to make an urgent trip to my dr to make sure baby was ok. Fortunately, after a sonogram & 20 min NST(non stress test--they put a monitor on my belly to watch the baby's heartbeat) everything is fine--though I am quite sore today.

So, what started out as the perfect day, ended up being quite stressful & a little traumatic! Glad it's over!

Some recent pics...

Here are some pics from the last week or so that I've been meaning to post:

Drew loves pillows!! This morning, he had decided that we should get up at 5:00am, so Jeremy brought him & a pillow downstairs so Ava & I could get a little more sleep. Drew held onto the pillow the rest of the day! :)

No, you're not supposed to eat the PLATE!

She loves her lovey.

Ava + chocolate chip cookie =

I'm not exactly sure what was going on here. There is an accompanying video(which I will try to post soon). They apparently invented a game that involved standing up on the chair, bouncing to their bottoms, then sliding to their backs. They would then start all over again--amidst MUCH laughter!!

1st 'Art Project' & some dancin'!

This morning we ran to Target for a few items & I decided it was time for some crayons. I've been putting it off, because they've always tried to eat them when they are offered at restaurants. But, it's been a couple months, so I thought we'd give it a try. BIG HIT!! They absolutely loved it. Ava took it a little more seriously than Drew--as you can see from her face in the pics.

When they added dancing to the coloring, I just had to grab the video camera! So cute.

Making room

We've really been playing quite a game of 'musical rooms' here lately.

1st, the storage/treadmill room was going to be the baby's. But, once it was cleaned out, we decided to separate Drew & Ava....so, that became Drew's room:

There are still a few decorative items waiting to be finished...I will post the complete room at that time. But, I think it looks pretty great in the meantime! Thanks, Jeremy, for all your hard work!!

So, then the plan was for the baby to stay in our room until we figured out which of the twins' sleep habits he/she has. We would then move the baby into that room.

Well, the last few weeks that had just really been bothering me. I started remembering that we had moved Ava & Drew out of our room at just 2 mos & that all 4 of us slept much better once we did. So, what if that needed to happen this time? At 2 mos, it's doubtful the baby will be sleeping through the night & that could easily mess up Ava or Drew's sleep.

Bright idea: Move Ava to the guest room; move guest furniture to 'nursery'; add crib in new guest room. When we are ready to move baby out of our room, he/she will sleep in the guest room/nursery except for when we have guests. Then he/she will 'spend the night' with mom & dad.

Here is Ava's 'new' room & the 'new' guest room/nursery. I have a shade ordered for Ava's room, so the sheet will come down soon. And we won't be getting a crib until we're closer to ready to move the baby. But, until then, this is what things look like:

Thanks, Jeremy, for getting this all done in 1 day...with little help from me! We love you!

Hard to believe that in less than 2 (short) months, the baby will be here! :)

Just havin' fun

These 2 love to be silly. Chasing each other around the room, climbing in/on things they shouldn't & just giving me the silliest grins for the camera!! They both love to laugh & mom loves to hear the sound of it. Makes me smile every time. Here are a few pics of them having fun w/ the 'cars' that came w/ their blocks:
